Purpose: Provide financial and educational assistance to families of journalists and social activists, especially those who are persecuted or die in the course of service leaving their spouses and children in poverty.
Funding Source: Donations from individuals, businesses, and institutions.
Management: The Fund shall be managed by a Board of Trustees of five or more persons to be appointed by the CACLD Board. The Board determines the recipients of any awards and the annual budget of the Fund. The term limits of a Board shall be three years subject to renewal by the CACLD Board.
Administration: The daily normal operations shall be handled by an Administrator. The Administrator shall keep records of transactions of the Fund, Serve as Secretary to the Board of Trustees and ensure that the Funding sources are maintained by keeping JAAF always in the public domain. The Administrator shall receive a monthly Stipend to be determined by the Board.
Campaign Funds: When a campaign is made to raise funds for a specific family, the funds so raised shall be distributed as follows:
• 50% to be given as cash to the Wife of the Journalist or Social Activist for her to use to start a business
• 20% goes towards Educational Scholarship for the children of that journalist or Activist.
• 20% to be set aside to respond to emergency needs of families of other persecuted journalists or activists
• 10% of the fund will go towards the Administration of the fund.
Initial Campaign: Ubani Chima Fund will be the first Campaign.
